Title- Implementing and using standards to describe and exchange educational digital resources
Abstract- This paper describes the experience of the CNDP (Centre National de Documentation Pédagogique), a French educational institution, implementing and using standards to describe, search and exchange digital educational resources. The concerned standards are IEEE LOM (Learning Object Metadata) and IMS ILOX (Information for Learning Object Exchange) for the metadata structures, VDEX (Vocabulary Definition Exchange) and SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System) for the controlled vocabularies representation and OAI/PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) for the harvesting and exchange activities. It focuses on the feedback obtained from the European ASPECT (Adopting Standards and Specifications for Educational Content) project.
